Housing Inspection Form for New Tenants

A previous resident cleans the apartment, but there is practically always something left to clean for the new resident. However, if there are outrageous defects in the cleaning, take a photo and inform AYY real estate, in 2 weeks from receiving the keys.

If you have changed the keys directly with the previous tenant, you have also accepted the apartment in the condition it was when the keys were turned over. In this case the previous tenant and AYY are no longer responsible for cleaning the apartment.

Please check the general condition of the apartment. There is not any stuff left by previous tenant.

If you move into a shared apartment, please check the condition of common premises.

Please check the condition of floors: are there any bigger holes, excessive scratches or tears.

Please check the ceiling condition: is the discoloration or scratches

Please check the wall condition: are they upright, is there any bigger holes

Please check the condition of doors: are they in place, are there holes, do the locks work

Please check the condition of cabinets: are the doors on the hinges, shelves intact and knobs in place.

Please check that the toilet and shower are in good condition and work properly.
If there is leaks or crack(s) at the (e.g. toilet seat, sink), please contact the maintenance company.

Please check that the refrigerator and other possible appliances work.

The ends of the dishwasher’s inlet and drainage hoses are located underneath the kitchen sink, and these must be capped to prevent water from seeping into the cupboard or onto the floor, causing water damage at worst. Capping these connections is the resident’s responsibility.

Please remember that dishwashers must be installed by a professional, and if you remove the kitchen cabinet to make room for a dishwasher, you must replace the cabinet and restore the kitchen into its previous condition when you move out of the apartment. Only if the apartment’s next occupant agrees to take the dishwasher as their responsibility can the dishwasher be left in place and the kitchen left unrestored. AYY doesn't offer tenants any dishwashers. If a dishwasher has been left to your apartment without your permission, please contact AYY real estate.
